DR. CHONG LEE is an accomplished professional in every sense of the word and a native of Arlington. Following his 1975 graduation from Yorktown High School, Dr. Lee headed off to Gilford College in Greensboro, VA to become a professional soccer player! It did not take long before Dr. Lee redirected his educational intentions towards a career in dentistry.
He is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia and professionally, has focused primarily on the philosophy of optimal care and superb service designed to exceed his patient’s expectations. This level of commitment, as well as his passion for dentistry, led Dr. Lee into the study of physiologic based dentistry; training that considers the importance of a balanced bite with the assurance of successful restorative and cosmetic procedures, including full mouth reconstruction. In the process, Dr. Lee discovered that sleep dentistry is deeply integrated into the study of physiologic based dentistry.

Products And Services
TMJ/Neuromuscular Dentistry
Headaches, particularly migraines, can be debilitating. Neuromuscular dentists Dr. Chong Lee and Dr. Joseph Oh earned their rating as best dentists in Northern Virginia by offering exceptional care in treating temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD).
TMD is a known cause of headaches often misdiagnosed as migraines. As a patient of Galleria Dental Aesthetics, you can be confident that these Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI) trained cosmetic and neuromuscular dentists offer you the highest quality care possible.
Neuromuscular dentistry is the science dealing with disorders in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The TMJ is the joint in which your upper temporal bone connects with the mandible, or “jaw bone.” The flexible, elastic, “articulate disk,” floats between the temporal bone and lower jaw. It acts as a cushion to promote optimal jaw joint function, for instance the up-and-down and side-to-side movement of the jaw.
TMJ disorders can cause a variety of painful symptoms. If you believe you are experiencing symptoms that signal TMJ, the condition must be diagnosed by an experienced neuromuscular dentist. Your symptoms could be caused by something else, and it’s important to identify the cause in order to effectively treat the pain.
Temporomandibular joint disease (known as TMD or TMJ) affects 75 million people at any one time. It is a chronic degenerative disease that may take years to develop. People who suffer from TMD have a structural imbalance in their jawto-skull relationship, caused by an uncomfortable bite.
Some of the more common symptoms of TMD include migraine type headaches, neck and shoulder tension, popping/clicking jaw joints, and pain in the TMJ area upon opening. When your teeth do not match up correctly, over time, your TMJ will weaken and wear. The result is often painful and can interfere with such basic functions as eating, speaking, and even yawning.
TMD can easily go undetected for a number of years and because of the pain associated with this disorder, your life can be affected in a number of ways. That is why learning how our cosmetic dentists cure TMD/TMJ can be so healing.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are a thin shell that attach to the front surface of teeth to help transform an imperfect smile into a more desirable one. We are able to use dental veneers for a variety of cosmetic corrections and result in a natural appearance and function of the tooth. Molded and shaped to match adjacent teeth, porcelain veneers are a quick, safe, and effective way to perfect your smile.
Dental veneers are an ideal choice for improving your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their simplicity and versatility. When bonded to the teeth, the ultra-thin porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and resistant to coffee, tea and cigarette stains. Their resemblance to healthy, white tooth enamel is unsurpassed by other restorative options.
Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea occurs when the airway is obstructed by relaxed muscles, excessive fat, tonsils or the tongue. Oxygen cannot adequately pass through the restricted airway, and snoring occurs as the soft tissues vibrate. As the pause in breathing occurs, your brain will signal you to wake up. Most likely you will not wake fully, and in the morning you won’t recall these instances of waking. The sleep disruption may not be noticeable, but it will negatively affect the amount of restful sleep you can get.
According to the National Institutes of Health, more than 12 million Americans experience the condition sleep apnea. The word “apnea” is Greek for “without breath.” Sleep apnea occurs when a person takes shallow breaths or even has breaks during breathing patterns while sleeping. Sleep apnea can be classified as obstructive sleep apnea or central sleep apnea.
Invisalign
Straight, well-aligned teeth are important for both your aesthetic objectives and quality of life. However, while we often think of younger patients when we talk about bite alignment and braces, many men and women in northern Virginia are in need of correction. Fortunately, Invisalign® is an effective, inconspicuous option for treating your bite alignment problems.
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a cylindrical and/or tapered post, usually made of titanium, that serves as a substitute for the tooth root. When a damaged or decayed tooth is removed, both the visible part of the tooth, called the crown, and the root are lost.
A dental implant is placed in the jawbone so that it can fuse with your natural bone and become a strong foundation for replacement teeth. Implants can be used to replace an individual tooth or for an implant-supported bridge or denture containing multiple teeth.
Dental implants are the closest you can get to healthy, natural teeth. They are artificial tooth roots used to support restorations that replace missing teeth. They are one of the most effective options to replace one or more missing teeth, provided you have sufficient bone structure in your jaw to accommodate the implant. If that is the case, there are options for patients that don’t have sufficient bone, such as bone grafting prior to implant placement.
Sedation Dentistry
Sedation dentistry, involves performing dental procedures while the patient is sedated. This is done by administering a sedative medication to help the patient stay calm and anxiety free during the procedure. This approach offers numerous advantages for patients who experience anxiety in the dental office:
-The option of sedation encourages patients who might otherwise avoid the dentist to get the oral care they need.
- Sedation lets patients relax and be comfortable while the dentist performs the necessary procedures.
- Because a sedated patient is easier to work on than one who is on edge, the dentist is able to perform his or her work more efficiently and safely.
